Monitor Calibration
This a quick practical tutorial on colour management for Windows PCs This is in no way a complete tutorial on colour management. For a complete tutorial on colour management, see http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/color-management1.htm Profile CreationTo start, you will need a screen calibrator, like the SpyderExpress or similar
The Spyder comes with software that guides you through the complete process of creating a profile for your monitor.
To get the most out of the calibration, it is best to do the calibration in the light in which you usually process your photos. It is also best to leave your monitor on for 3 hours before calibrating it to ensure it is warmed up properly. The Spyder software will create a colour profile for your monitor and automatically assign the profile to your monitor. If you are using multiple monitors, you will need to manually set the profile for any additional monitors, see below for further details. To set a screen profile manuallyIf you need to change the assigned profile, right click on the desktop and select "Properties"
The "Display Properties" dialog will appear
Click on the "Settings" tab
On the settings tab, it will show your monitors, select the monitor for the profile to be assigned and click on "Advanced"
In the "Monitor Properties", click on "Color Management" tab
At this point click on "Add" to add a profile to your monitor. All profiles are in C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\color
