Hope you all had a good St. Patrick’s weekend. If you got out and took a few shots of your local parade or other activities, don’t forget to share them on our Flickr group page - https://www.flickr.com/groups/offshoot_society/

Tomorrow (Sunday) we have an outing to the Irish Open Canoe Slalom.

Venue: Lucan Sluice Weir.

There is a small car park located across the road from McDonalds. It is a ten-minute walk from Lucan village. If the car park is full there is on-street parking in the vicinity:
https://goo.gl/maps/AGjTnUfYTe22. We will meet at the car park at 10.00 am.

A telephoto lens is essential.

And on Monday (weather permitting!) we have our deferred talk by Evelyn Cusack from Met Eireann on weather and photography.

A big thanks to Iñaki Hernández-Lasa for his excellent presentation of his successful  Fellowship panel for The Royal Photographic Society.  Inaki is running an architectural workshop in Valencia, Spain in June and may have a few places.  More details below. Check with Inaki before booking flights, hotels, etc..

OffShoot Exhibition 2019 - 7th May until 17th June

The club exhibition will be in Deansgrange Library again this year. All members, new and old, may submit up to 2 images for the exhibition and we guarantee to display at least one, depending on the number of entries. When choosing your images you need to be mindful that the exhibition is in a family library. The space in the library has been restricted, so get your images in early to avoid disappointment!

Images may be submitted from now up to 7th April.

The file name for your images must include 'Exhibition-Your Name-Image Title' and they must be submitted at https://www.dropbox.com/request/WZMztBkvMuVfPCV7uC3C.

Your pictures will all be mounted and framed in a white frame 21x17ins. The cost will be 30 Euro each. This is a very special price for the exhibition only.

There will be a party in the Grange Pub on the night of the opening and all members and guests will be welcome.

NB.  Images will only be accepted from paid up 2019 members.

Any queries?

Architectural Photography Workshop.

Iñaki Hernandez-Lasa is conducting a photography architectural workshop in Valencia on 13th -16th of June.

There are a few places left. The price for the workshop is 500 euros and covers the tuition. Flights, hotel, food, drinks etc must be paid for by the participants. Contact Inaki before making any flight or hotel reservations at inakihernandezlasa@gmail.com

"Some people have approached me saying that they have no experience in this genre. Don't be afraid if you have not shot architectural photography before...

There are some fantastic and experienced photographers joining me but they have not necessarily shot architecture before so why not join us? I will be covering fundamentals and will help all participants with conceptualisation, shooting, processing, panelling ideas, different architectural styles and much more.

There will be also ample opportunities to shoot travel and street photography type images which can be used for salons or distinctions.

Please feel free to contact me if you wish to know more about this workshop in this amazing location."
