Next Monday - Quiz Night
Last Monday we had a most informative and entertaining presentation by Richard Boyle on his trip to Namibia – some superb images!
Next Monday we will have something completely different – our Quiz Night! So come along and enjoy a good social event and stretch the grey matter with questions on a wide range of topics, including photography!
Upcoming Digital Evening
On Monday, 27th January we will have a group of members with a wide knowledge of all things digital including:
Lightroom
Photoshop
Affinity / Capture One
TPE / Photo Pils (photo planning software)
So come along and get your questions answered in small groups rather than in front of everyone.
Join the 2025 Photo Challenge Now
The 2025 Photo Challenge is intended to encourage participating members to pursue a focused theme of photography over an eight or nine-month period.
So what do you need to do:
1. Decide now to take the challenge
2. Decide on your challenge theme
3. Produce up to 20 images that illustrate your theme to a standard that satisfies you, or
4. Produce a 5 to 10-minute AV (slideshow) of your images
5. There are no restrictions on how or when you capture your images
Timetable:
February 1st: confirm your participation and theme by email to 25PC@offshoot.ie
End September: complete your image selection / AV sequence
October 13th & 20th: present the results of your challenge at a club meeting
So Go Ahead and Take the Challenge!
Spring 2025 Shoot With Me – Call for Leaders
For those new to the club, Shoot With Me (SWM) is a project-based activity that we run twice yearly. The principal idea is that around 12 members volunteer to facilitate a small group of other club members in a chosen photographic project.
The essence of SWM is twofold:
1. It allows members to meet and socialise with other members while taking part in a photographic project and
2. It allows members to practice/explore/develop or learn about some aspect of photography.
To bring your newfound skills to fruition, everyone gets to present two of their images at a Showcase in May.
Call For Leaders:
Many thanks to those members who have already volunteered to be leaders. Without you, SWM would not be possible. A few more leaders are needed before the Spring SWM can commence.
To volunteer please send an email with your chosen project/activity title and a short description to swm@offshoot.ie or have a chat with Bob Acton, our SWM coordinator.
Car Boot Sale – 3rd March
It is intended to run our annual Car Boot Sale on Monday 3rd March.
So now is the time to root out anything photographic that is surplus to your requirements but may be of value to another club member.
Please email Emily (carboot@offshoot.ie) with details of what you have on offer with an indication of the price so that she can start putting the sales catalogue together.
