Competition Judging
The judging of the Mono competition will take place on Monday, 16 June, and the judge will be Neil McShane, who specialises in black and white photography, especially nature and landscape. We look forward to the evening.
Club Exhibition
The club's annual exhibition will be held in The Lexicon Library, level 4, from July 10th to 17th August.
If you would like to take part in the exhibition, please submit up to two images each to the link below before midnight on the 20th June 2025. The topic can be anything. The images will be printed, mounted and framed by Steve at a cost of €30 each, unless you want to use a different paper option, as explained below.
Please pay the same club bank account that you use to pay your membership subscription. Please add your membership number and exhib in the space provided for notes.
When submitting images for the exhibition, can members please add a title to the images, as we will have foam title tags for each image, and it looks better if the image has a name rather than a camera-generated file name. Please upload your files in TIFF format, as it means that the image will print really well.
The naming convention for the files is PhotographersName-ImageTitle.Tiff.
There will be a launch party after the first night of the exhibition.
Please add your images to the Dropbox link below.

We know this is three months away BUT you have to have your images ready and in the Dropbox by 20th June and that is only six weeks away. Start sorting now.
Exhibition Upload Paper Options
You should save your images in TIF format (Ideally in ADOBE RGB 1998 Colour Space) and name them with your Name and Image Title: AuthorName-ImageTitle.tif e.g. There is an optional addition of three letters to this to choose alternative paper types (see the section on Paper Type below).
Note that JPEG files are acceptable, but the image quality will be somewhat lower.
Paper Type
If you want your images on the standard Lustre paper there is nothing more to do.
If you wish to have a different paper type you need to add three letters after your membership number in the file title.
If you don’t do this the assumption is Lustre Paper.
The standard Lustre paper will cost €30 for the printing, mounting and framing of each image.
The Fine Art Pearl and Photo Rag Matt price will be €36.50 for each printed, mounted and framed image.
For example, if you wish to have your images on Fine Art Pearl, you should name your file: AuthorName-FAP-Image title.tif
If you omit these letters the assumption is Lustre Paper.
If you have any questions, please ask Emily.
Club Presentation at the Lexicon
In conjunction with the annual exhibition, the Lexicon have asked the club to make a presentation. This will take place in the Library on Thursday July 24th from 6pm to 7 pm.
The committee has agreed that this event will be entitled “From bend of bay to swerve of shore” and will feature projected images taken by club members of the people, places and wildlife of the area from Killiney to Sandymount. We hope to include approximately 60 images taken by a wide range of members.
If you would like to have an image included please upload up to three images to the Dropbox link below. High quality jpegs are sufficient and please name each image as follows: membership number, followed by your initials, followed by title e.g. 235EMharbourview.
The closing date for submission is June 30th, after which time the committee will select the images.

IPF Distinction Sitting
Sitting for a distinction is the best way of learning about and developing your photography. It takes patience and you invest a lot of time in preparing a panel.
The next distinction sitting takes place on 27th September in Dunamaise Arts Centre, Portlaoise (applications from 12.00 pm on 12th August to 10.00 pm on 5th September) and the one after that is 22nd November in Thurles (applications from 12.00 pm on 7th October to 10.00 pm on 31st October).
Do have a go at a distinction. Success or failure is nought to the experience and knowledge gained.
Collect Images
Our storage cupboard is currently hosting an art exhibition of abandoned images, but the show’s about to close!
If any of the masterpieces in there belong to you, please swing by and rescue them in the next two weeks before they get recycled.
November Connemara Weekend
