Next Monday evening we will again be back in St Bridget’s School at 8 pm with an option to join via Zoom.

Steve Crozier will talk to us about Printing Settings and preparing images for printing.

IPF National Club Competition

National club competition Saturday May 21st.

Many thanks to all members that have uploaded images to the IPF national club competition dropbox link.

Last Monday Night

Last Monday evening Thilo and Taryn showed us their successful LIPF panels. The members in the room split into groups and discussed images they had brought along. Unfortunately, we were not able to replicate this for the Zoom attendees.

Our Club Exhibition is Back

The Annual Club Exhibition will return this year and will be held in the DLR Lexicon over 6 weeks commencing 12th July 2022. You may now submit your images for the exhibition  via this dropbox link:

https://www.dropbox.com/request/QiiYhKLD9LcFcbXbSfeD

The closing date for submission of images is 30th April – so now is a great time to start looking through your images to find something you might like to submit or go and shoot something new if you wish. It is likely that we will be able to accommodate two images from each member.

The launch party has now been booked for the first night of the exhibition (12th July) in Hardys Bar in the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire – so put the date in your calendar now!

Car Boot Sale

We are proposing to have a “Car Boot Sale” at our meeting on Monday 9th May. So now is the time to get value for any surplus kit that you may have accumulated over the past few years.

To facilitate planning, please email Emily Gallagher with details of anything you would like to offer for sale with an indication of the price you hope to achieve for it.

The Theme of the Week

This week's theme is Shape.

Another basic element of photography. Shapes can be geometric or organic. In addition to seeing shapes in our photographs, we can compose shots so that the elements in the picture form a shape.  In a silhouette, the black subject will create a shape but the remaining light background also forms a shape of negative space.
Different shapes create different moods.

Square/rectangular shapes imply stability and strength. Triangular shapes direct the eye. curved or round shapes create a sense of motion.

Next Club Competition – “Abstract”

Our next competition will be under the theme of ‘Abstract’.

You can interpret the theme as you wish from landscapes to people and anything in between. We are looking forward to seeing the different interpretations.
