News

Last Tuesday Night – BBQ

We had a very pleasant evening at our BBQ at the National Yacht Club last Tuesday night. It was lovely to be able to have a social night and get to know fellow members.

Next Monday – Mystery Night

Your mission should you choose to accept it, is to meet at the school at 8pm and then we are going to be given a couple of mystery topics, location and a timeframe for members to take photos. We will then meet back at the school and look at some of the images that people took. It will be a fun night. Please bring your cameras, we look forward to seeing you there.

2023 Club Exhibition

This year’s exhibition will be held between 12th July and 26th August on the fourth floor of the Lexicon in Dun Laoghaire.

We also plan to compile a book of the exhibition images that will be available at the time of the event. The Exhibition Book will cost €30.

Thank you to everyone who submitted images for the exhibition, it is going to be another fantastic representation of your hard work and talent.

Summer Programme

Next Monday will be our last meeting at the school for the Summer. However, that does not mean that the fun is over, we will have Monday night gatherings around Dublin and our surrounding area to enable us to meet and take photos.

Please keep an eye on the outings section of the Offshoot website for further details.

Irish Light - Big Day Out

Peter Gordon has offered us a reduced price for his Big Day Out in September, Emily has sent an email including all the details. If you would like Emily to include you on the list, please let her know.

This is always an interesting, educational and fun event.

Thank you to everyone who has contacted her already.

Shoot With Me

Those of us who attended the two recent SWM Showcases will have been very impressed with the diversity of activities and the quality of images presented. Congratulations to Pat Divilly, without whose energetic enthusiasm we would not have achieved the successful programme.

However, Pat always needs new leaders so if you have an idea for the Autumn series give it a ‘go’. You don’t need to be an expert on the topic chosen; it may be just a project you would like to try yourself.

The 2023 Photo Challenge (23PC)

The 2023 Photo Challenge was launched in January and is intended to encourage members to pursue a focused theme of photography between now and next November. It is not a competition; you decide the output standard you go for.

What you need to do is develop a Statement of Challenge Theme that describes the purpose and approach for your challenge:

  • Produce 6 to 10 images that illustrate your Theme to a standard that satisfies you, or
  • a 5 to 7-minute-long AV of your images.

There are no restrictions on how, when or where you capture your images.

If you haven’t started or require any clarification or if you would like feedback on your proposed Theme please email 23pc@offshoot.ie

So, you have the Summer to get your project off the ground.!

IPF Shield Competition – Call for Your Images

The IPF Shield Competition is held each Autumn and Offshoot is now preparing to select a Colour and a Mono Panel to represent the club.

So please start now to look through your images and select up to a max of 5 colour and 5 mono to submit for consideration for the Offshoot entry.

Please use the Dropbox link below to submit your images:
