News

As March fades away, spring flowers have started to bloom, the days are getting longer, and winter's chill is fading away. Do you still need more reasons to celebrate? It’s time to unpack the lenses, the tripods and the flash guns and step out on the river bank and savour the beauties of life.

Next Monday Night – “Wildlife”

Monday, 27th March we will have club member Robbie O'Leary talk to us about Wildlife photography and show us some images.

Last Monday Night – Car Boot Sale

As a direct descendant of the rural country market where people gathered to sell their wares and unwanted household goods the car boot sale still attracts those seeking a bargain and has spawned literary giants like Arthur Daly and Del Boy Trotter.

Ours may be a smaller and more moral market place but it is still a market where we follow established traditions. We came, we saw, and we sold or bought that gear which we all have accumulated and purchased that item we have always wanted.

It was great to see the ‘traders’ in action and the customer eyeing the goods on offer. It was an enjoyable evening.

URGENT- Please Collect Your Printed Images

We are under pressure to tidy up our storage unit in the school. We have a significant number of unclaimed images stored in the school. These include prints from the recent competition, the last Shoot With Me showcases and also from earlier events – even before the Covid disruption.

So please come to collect your prints on Monday evening or arrange for another member to collect them on your behalf.

IPF Liaison Role Still to be Filled

We have still got one important position to fill on the Offshoot committee – IPF Liaison. If you would be interested in volunteering for this role, or if you would like some more information about it, please contact any member of the committee as soon as possible.

IPF National Club Competition – Call for Images

The IPF National Club Competition is an annual inter-club competition that is open to all clubs that are affiliated with the Irish Photographic Federation.

The competition is held in May and is open to all members of Offshoot to take part. So, if you would like to take part, please start thinking about what images you might like to submit to be considered for the club panel.

Submission details will be advised over the next few weeks.

April Studio Portrait Session

Following the success of the recent event, the Outings Committee have organised another specialist Studio Portrait session in April which is now fully subscribed.
