In Remembrance - Joe Tuilé

It was with a profound sense of sadness that our club members learned recently of the death of long-standing member Joe Tulie. Whether he welcomed you to the club at the door, entertained you as quizmaster, impressed you with his formidable Photoshop skills, or was a genial companion on an outing or Shoot with Me meeting, you will have been left in no doubt as to the warmth, sincerity, and kindness of the man. Never one to seek the limelight, Joe was softly-spoken and respectful to all he met and preferred to work away in the background, always with the good of the club uppermost in his mind. He was a man of high intellect, of great imagination, and an accomplished photographer: but above all else, his first instinct was always to be helpful, to try to do the right thing, to be supportive, to contribute generously, and to play his part. Those who knew him best will have become increasingly aware of his unshakeable integrity, his fortitude, and his quiet courage: Joe was truly one of life’s gentlemen, and he will be greatly missed. His presence enriched us and we will be poorer for his absence.

Next Monday Night – Printing with Steve Crozier
Next Monday evening at 8 pm in St Bridget’s School Steve Crozier will be talking to us all about printing. This will be a very educational and useful presentation. Steve is so knowledgeable about printing that he makes it all seem so easy.
Last Monday Night – Travels to Japan & Korea
At the last meeting, Jean Clarke spoke to us about her travels in Japan and Korea. Her fascinating presentation was a wonderful representation of her amazing trip to Japan and Korea. Our thanks to Jean for such an interesting presentation.
Next Competition - Movement
This is a very broad theme again to facilitate creativity and essentially movement refers to the act or process of moving especially: a change of place or position or posture. You can interpret it as you wish. Examples might be moving people, water, stars, etc.

URGENT- Please Collect Your Printed Images
We are under pressure to tidy up our storage unit in the school. We have a significant number of unclaimed images stored in the school. These include prints from the recent competition, the last Shoot With Me showcases, and also from earlier events – even before the Covid disruption.
So please come to collect your prints on Monday evening or arrange for another member to collect them on your behalf.
Plans for the 2023 Club Exhibition Developing
This year’s exhibition will be held between 12th July and 26th August on the fourth floor of the Lexicon in Dun Laoghaire.
We also plan to compile a book of the exhibition images that will be available at the time of the event, further updates on the book will follow in the next while.
Members may have a maximum of two images each in the exhibition.
The Dropbox link to upload images is here. Please upload your images in their full size in tiff format – this enables Steve to print your images to the best quality.
The images will be printed, mounted, and framed by Steve and his company 360dpi, this year like last year each image will cost €30.
The closing date for uploading your images is 12th June 2023.
So now is the time to start thinking about which of your photos you would like to see on display!!
Potential Judging Panel
We are hoping to compile a list of members who have or can Judge competitions for other clubs, as we have been asked in the past for Judges. If you have done this before or have taken part in the IPF Judging training in the past, please contact Emily.
Photography Events
Today, Dublin Camera Club, launches 'Seen to be Heard', the award-winning exhibition by photographer Jennifer Willis FIPF FRPS EFIAP, the Eddie Chandler Gallery.
In this exhibition, the raw and powerful images reveal the physical and emotional pain of living with Secondary Breast Cancer in a dignified way. Jennifer has been awarded both a Fellowship of the Irish Photographic Federation and of the Royal Photographic Society for this great body of work.
Please join them from 2pm to meet Jennifer and some of the women who participated in the project. |
