Despite the rain, the changing light created favourable conditions for landscape and macro photography, particularly among the garden’s woodland paths and seasonal flower displays.
The overcast skies provided soft, diffused lighting that reduced harsh shadows and enhanced colour saturation in both foliage and blooms. Water droplets remaining on leaves and petals after showers added texture and detail to close-up compositions.
Changes between rain and brighter intervals required careful adjustment of camera settings. Faster shutter speeds and higher ISO were used during darker periods to compensate for movement caused by wind and rainfall, while occasional brighter spells allowed for wider compositions of the gardens and surrounding scenery.
The weather contributed positively to the mood and visual character of the outing. Overall, the visit proved productive, with the varied conditions providing a range of photographic subjects and lighting effects that would not have been available on a clear day.
