Club Outing – Altamont Gardens Snowdrops

27 February 2026 | Club Outings

The outing on 21st February was again under threat of poor weather; however, we were lucky to experience mostly dry weather.

Six members defied the forecast to drive the hour and half to the Gardens near Carlow.

The brief for this outing was to mainly photograph the snowdrops, which were coming towards the end of them being in prime condition.

They were still in good enough condition to obtain very acceptable photographs, and there were plenty of other flowering plants in bloom to supplement the flowering snowdrops. The beautiful walled gardens, lake walks to the river meant there were also plenty of other options to occupy everyone’s time.

After two hours, everyone retired to the café in the garden, where a very pleasant time was spent taking in refreshments and putting the wrongs of the world to right and comparing notes on the morning.

Again, from everyone’s reaction, all seemed to enjoy their morning.
