On the 5th May, the weather forecast had been a bit uninspiring. But on the day, we were blessed with blue skies and lovely cloud formations. However, we were only interested in the Bluebells! We had a choice of 200 acres and 10km of forest trails all displayed on a map at the entrance. We headed off in all directions, but all eventually made their way to the Bluebell Walk. The human eye is much more forgiving that the camera eye. The display under the trees was delightful, bluebells, wild garlic and others too.
Unfortunately, they were slightly past their best, which was even more apparent in the photographs. The forest walks were really lovely with dappled light, which made photography quite a challenge, and long avenues of mixed trees planted in the 1830’s.
As always when photographing, the time flew, and all of a sudden, it was time to head into Rathangan for a cuppa at Ma’s Kitchen and a catch-up chat.
A most enjoyable morning. Next year I’m going earlier!!
