The cathedral was originally a simple wooden Viking church but was transformed by Strongbow and St Laurence O’Toole and features numerous Gothic arches and stained glass windows.
As well as having access to the main church we were also able to get into the section of the cathedral which spans Winetavern Street and tried with varying levels of success to shoot through the semi opaque glass.
There weren’t too many people around for the first half hour so people focused on getting their wider shots down the central or side aisles and in the little chapels behind the main altar. Several people also went into the crypt where you definitely needed a tripod.
Once visitors started arriving we concentrated more on the smaller details, like the beautiful tiled floors, candles and carvings.
When we had finished we adjourned to Rosie’s café across the street and enjoyed a well deserved coffee.
