Club Outing – Duckett’s Grove and Altamont Gardens

13 August 2023 | Club Outings

On Saturday 1st July, 9 members arrived at Ducketts Grove, the weather was great although there was quite a stiff breeze, making macro photography quite difficult.

Ducketts Grove ia a ruined 19th-Century, great georgian country house that was redesigned in a castellated gothic revival style.

We then went to Altamount Gardens for our lunch and a great exchange of thoughts and ideas and lots of laughter. We then ventured around the gardens. Altamount is a large and beautiful estate covering 16 hectares in total, it is laid out in the style of William Robinson, which strives for ‘honest simplicity’. The design situates an excellent plant collection perfectly within the natural landscape.

We had a great final outing before the holidays and we look forward to our next one in September.
