Club Outing – Altamont Gardens Snowdrops
Altamont Gardens are on a large estate covering 16 hectares. The gardens are laid out in the style of William Robinson, which strives for honest simplicity. There are lawns and sculptured yews that slope down to a lake ringed by rare trees and rhododendrons. A fascinating walk through the Arboretum, Bog garden, and Ice Age Glen, sheltered by ancient oaks and flanked by huge stone outcrops, leads to the banks of the River Slaney.
Peter Chapman will lead this outing.
We will meet in the car park at 10.30 am. Admission is Free. There is a €2 pay and display car parking charge.
After we finish for those who would like refreshments, we will meet in the walled garden café.
