Club Outing – Emo Court

Emo Court & Gardens, located in County Laois, is a neoclassical mansion surrounded by beautiful gardens, woodlands, and a tranquil lake. Designed by architect James Gandon in the late 18th century, it offers a unique blend of architectural elegance and natural beauty. Enjoy the mile-long Wellingtonia Avenue, flanked by giant Sequoia trees planted in 1853, wander among the elegant yews and statuary of the formal lawns, or take in the Lakeside Loop. Keep an eye out for Irish red squirrels, which are native to the estate, and rare birds including buzzards and egrets.

There is free parking and the all-important coffee shop on site.

Tours of the house are available (€ 8 per person / €6 for seniors). They take place on the hour, and you can bring a tripod, but you won’t have a lot of time to use it as the tour moves reasonably quickly through 14 rooms.
